First dates tend to create a variety of emotions, excitement, anticipation and nervousness. All are natural and to be expected. This dating tips article provides some great dating tips for a woman on her first date. With a little preperation every first date can achieve its full potential.

If you are looking forward to a first date with a potential partner, you will be feeling understandably anxious. But he will be feeling just as nervous as you and by making a few preparations in advance, there's no reason why your first date should not go well.

When meeting a potential partner for the first time, it's always worth keeping your safety in mind. The chances are, he is a genuine guy, and you should not be unduly worried, However, by taking such precautions as arranging your own transport to and from your date and meeting away from your home, you will be able to relax a little more. However, it is important to trust your instincts and if at any time during your date, you become concerned, make your excuses and leave.

Find out in advance where you are going for your date. It is impossible to choose the outfit that will knock him sideways if you have no idea where you are going! It can be a great confidence boost to wear something new, but it is worth test driving your outfit at home first to make sure you are comfortable as well as look gorgeous. It never quite has the desired effect if your mohair jumper makes you sneeze and you cannot walk in those fabulous boots.

Make sure you know how to recognise your date. If you have only seen a photo on an online dating site, it can sometimes be more difficult than you expect to be sure you are looking at the right person! Give him a distinguishing feature, such as a distinctive scarf or handbag to look out for and ask him to let you know what colour shirt or jacket he will have on. While you may feel awkward about this, it could save a lot of embarrassment.

It is a good idea to arrange for your date to arrive a few minutes earlier than you so that you are not waiting alone at a restaurant or bar. However, make sure you can get in touch by mobile phone or have the number for the venue to leave a message if either of you are delayed. Ten minutes may not sound long but it can seem like an age if you are wondering if you have been stood up!

Find out as much as you can in advance about likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests. If you both love running or you enjoy the same films it will make conversation easier to initiate and any awkward silences will be fewer and further between.

Finally, at the end of your date, let him know if you enjoyed it. But be honest about whether you want to meet up again or not. If you do not want to see him again be polite but firm and do not accept an invitation out of sympathy. If you do both want to repeat the experience, go for it and good luck.
